New Release - Schumann & Fauré

In parallel with his five-part Variations Series at London's Wigmore Hall (2025 to 2027), Danny Driver releases selected works from his programmes in studio recordings. J S Bach's Goldberg Variations were released in September 2025, a release that is now followed one year later by a recording of Gabriel Fauré's Variations in C sharp minor (Op 73) and Schumann's Symphonic Études (Op 13).

Driver has chosen to record Schumann's work with five posthumously published variations included.  Since Schumann also withheld Études 3 and 9 from his final (1852) version, Driver takes all seven 'extra' variations and reorders them collectively at the centre of his performance - a 'quasi-arabesque' which is arguably true to Schumann's literary inspirations and to formal digressions in other of his compositions.
