Morton Feldman Patterns in a Chromatic Field

Additional Information

Oliver Coates and Danny Driver celebrate fifteen years of collaboration with a performance of Morton Feldman's celebrated late work Patterns in a Chromatic Field.

A long-form piece lasting 90 minutes, this is one of Feldman's quietest and most rhythmic compositions. Panels of non-developmental music with exquisite timbres explore decay relationships in the instruments over a shifting perception of slow time. Morton Feldman spent much of his life working in the New York textile industry and the amassed spectral harmonies revealed through Patterns have been compared to the shimmer of dye variation in the colourful Central Asian rugs the composer so admired.
